And Yet More Snow!

Once again, we’ve had a series of recent and smaller snowfalls that continue to blanket our area.  Last Friday, there was a classic lake effect 2″ snowfall over a period of about 1 1/2 hours.  Then on Monday, I woke up to about 3″ up on the Caribou.  Again, we have not had a classic winter storm yet this season, but the snow continues to accumulate.  Matter-of-fact, I was out last night and shoveled snow off the roof of my cabin… was that deep.  Unfortunately, the annual John Beargrease Sled Dog race was recently cancelled as the result of poor snow conditions.  But those poor snow and trail conditions were south of Cook County.  Because we have snow, the area put together a sled dog race on the Gunflint Trail in replacement of the John Beargrease event.   Combined with  mild temps, it’s been a great winter to be in the woods, on XC slopes and on the slopes of Lutsen Mountains (and yes, on the bike too!).
